TITLE:

Taking Technical Writing to the Masses

DESCRIPTION:

For teachers at levels K-12 and across the curriculum, this course will help teachers restructure teaching and learning practices in the classroom to incorporate a broad spectrum of technical writing strategies, practices, and assessments.  The goals are four-fold:

  • to increase the ability of teachers to teach and evaluate technical writing skills;
  • to integrate technical writing skills into curriculum and instruction;
  • to enable students to meet challenging state standards, particularly as demonstrated on the CRT and Writing Assessment tests;
  • to enable students to better meet every-day technical writing requirements in the workplace.

8:30 a.m.-Noon and 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. daily

ENROLLMENT:

Limit of 40

CREDIT:

15 OPI renewal units OR 1 graduate credit through Montana State University-Northern. MSU-N will charge $130.00 for this credit which is paid at the workshop.

EXPENSES:

Participants will be responsible for travel, lodging, and meals.

FEE POLICY:

$40.00 per participant if GTCC member  /  $100.00 per participant if not a GTCC member 

Please submit registration fees by June 1, 2009.  If we have not received your payment by June 1st, and the workshop is full, you will be bumped should we receive registration with payment from another registrant.  If you are bumped from a workshop you will be notified.  After June 1st registration fees must be sent at the time of registration.  NO refunds after June 1, 2009.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:

 Please bring a laptop with wireless capability.  Participants will receive a $120.00 stipend because of grant money.
