Workshop 0924

TITLE:

Teaching Mathematics the Way Children Think: A Culturally Responsive Approach

DESCRIPTION:

Helping our students learn basic mathematics—addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts and operations as well as problem solving—can be a real challenge. Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI), an approach that has been carefully developed and thoroughly investigated for use with varying populations, including both Natives and non-Natives, provides the content for this workshop. You will learn to understand how your students think mathematically. As a result, you will be able to design culturally responsive instruction that helps your students own their mathematical learning.
