TITLE:

Six Traits of Writing I

DESCRIPTION:

The Student Writing Team better known as the SWAT Team for the Golden Triangle Cooperative has designed and is implementing a direct writing assessment model for teacher and student use.  Teachers attending the fifteen hour workshop which presents the model will receive our Direct Writing Assessment Model manual with sample papers; participants also receive training in all six traits, instruction in how to tie existing language arts programs into this exciting approach to writing and assessing in the classroom.  Skills, mini-lessons, and writing prompts are also included.

Limit of 25

CREDIT:

15 OPI renewal units OR 1 graduate credit through Montana State University-Northern. MSU-N will charge $130.00 for this credit which is paid at the workshop.

EXPENSES:

Participants will be responsible for travel, lodging, and meals.

FEE POLICY:

$40.00 per participant if GTCC member  / $100.00 per participant if not a GTCC member 

Please submit registration fees by June 1, 2009.  If we have not received your payment by June 1st, and the workshop is full, you will be bumped should we receive registration with payment from another registrant.  If you are bumped from a workshop you will be notified.  After June 1st registration fees must be sent at the time of registration.  NO refunds after June 1, 2009.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:

Writing samples from their class.  Picture books which depict areas of good writing.
