TITLE:

Place Names and Google Earth

DESCRIPTION:

Based on a Ready-to-Go grant Round 2—Building World Views Using Traditional Cultures and Google Earth developed by Michael Munson-Lenz, Lisa M. Blank, and Jeffrey W. Crews, this 2-day, hands-on workshop will enable you and your students to find their own special Place Names and create a Google Earth Tour.   Reproducible classroom materials and DVDs will be provided.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Classroom Teachers who are interested in learning Google Earth and integrating Indian Education for All into their classrooms.

Monday-Tuesday February 15-16, 2010

TIME:

8:30 a.m.-Noon and 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. daily

ENROLLMENT:

Limit of 25

CREDIT:

15 OPI renewal units OR 1 graduate credit through Montana State University-Northern. MSU-N will charge $140.00 for this credit which is paid at the workshop by the participant.

EXPENSES:

Participant’s lodging (February 15, 2010) if needed and meals will be paid by the grant.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:

Participants need to bring a wireless internet capable laptop. Participants need to bring a Flash/USB storage device. Participants need to have Google Earth 5 installed or rights to install on the laptop (a free download at http://earth.google.com/)
