GTCC
SUMMER INSTITUTE 2008

2008 Online Book Symposiums
Sponsored by MNCESR and Golden Triangle Cooperative

The GTCC and Montana North Central Education Service Region (MNCESR) are excited to offer Online Book Symposiums again this summer. We have developed these symposiums to meet the increasing demand for online professional development. Earn either OPI Renewal Hours or MSU-Northern Continuing Education Units from your home or on the go.

What is an Online Book Symposium (OBS)? An OBS is a learning team approach to some of the best educational literature, while utilizing the internet to connect team members. The OBS approach is Asynchronous over a period of three weeks. Participants will thus have the flexibility to participate at their convenience. There are three 3-week sessions scheduled.

Each OBS is facilitated by a Montana educator who has identified a particular piece of professional literature that has been beneficial to their educational career. Each week, this facilitator will post focus questions on specific chapters assigned for that week’s readings. Participants will then post responses based on their reflection of the readings and how it relates to their educational practices and student achievement. Assignments and assessments will vary depending on the facilitator or on the participants’ choice of taking the OBS for renewal units or credits. However, active participation is required for both.

*Please Note: Participants are responsible for purchasing their own books.
