One of her books, Shouting Won’t Grow Dendrites, is so well-known that the title has become the mantra for many of us in the world of education. When I asked leaders in Montana who we should have for our back to school meeting, Marcia Tate was on the top of everyone’s list. Their reasons: 1) She is entertaining and motivating, 2) She knows what good teaching looks like, 3) and all her strategies are applicable to every grade. If we think brain proven strategies only belong in elementary schools that may be one reason our middle and high schools do not boast that they are institutions of academic engagement. None of us reach our potential through lecture. So why is that the major delivery system of knowledge and understanding in our schools across the country? We learn and retain by doing.
Dr. Tate is going to entertain while giving you major school life lessons to take directly back to the classroom. I am so EXCITED about this year’s presentation. I love this one day every other year where all schools in the GTCC gather together and renew old friendships and meet new people. Don’t miss this event. Our teachers deserve to listen to national speakers as often as possible.
