TITLE:
The Lewis and Clark Expedition Through Montana (with an emphasis on the portage of the Great Falls of the Missouri)
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Step back to 1805 and follow the Expedition as they make their exploration of the Louisiana Territory in search of the headwaters of the Missouri River and the famed all-water route to the Pacific Ocean. Follow Lewis and Clark through Montana through an in-depth study of the activities the members of the expedition participated in. Visit many of the local sites as Lewis and Clark portaged around the Great Falls of the Missouri.
Through a combination of lectures, videos, movies, and hands-on experiences, the participants will learn: the goals and objectives of the expedition, an overall look at the expedition, plants, animals and geographic features that Lewis and Clark encountered in Montana, and an in-depth look at the portage around the Great Falls of the Missouri.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Day 1: Bring your laptop and note taking items.
Day 2: Bring a cooler with a lunch and drinks; please be prepared for driving in GF and/or carpooling.

OPI Renewal Units -OR- 1 semester credit Continuing Education Credits (MSU-Northern) will be available ($150 - paid at the workshop).
