I had a conversation recently with an administrator on the topic of Transformational Learning. We discussed the buzzword and we both agreed on the importance of transforming learning to meet the diverse needs of today’s learners. But, I was left with 2 questions that I didn’t have the answers to:
How can we transform learning without transforming our teaching?
And therefore, how DO WE transform our teaching?
Eric Sheninger (author, speaker, Educational Guru) shares that transforming teaching and learning both require a, “...mindset shift [in order to] prepare learners for an unpredictable world” and that educators play, “...a pivotal role in preparing students for success now and in the future”.
It is critical to understand that our support of our students and our relationships with them are arguably the most important way to make a difference in childrens’ lives and impact their future. Our mindset must remain on success and we must transform our own thinking, to reflect that of the future needs for our students.
