Golden Apple Monthly Newsletter September 2023

September is Suicide Prevention Month. The GTCC has unfortunately been made aware of an uptick in reportings of suicide associated with our member schools. This news is tragic to us as supporters of our students and education across the cooperative, as I am sure it is to all of our member teachers and administration. There are many quality and supportive resources to support suicide prevention in our schools. Suicide Prevention Month is a time to discuss this highly stigmatized topic and how we can more fully support our students that are contemplating suicide.

Information from the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI)

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, call or text 988 immediately.

If you are uncomfortable talking on the phone, you can chat the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988lifeline.org

You can also text NAMI to 741-741 to be connected to a free, trained crisis counselor on the Crisis Text Line.
